Making kombucha part 2

First brew done 🍻 and I’m happy to report its more than drinkable, it’s bloody delicious. I’ve got to work on my second batch as the scoby can’t dry out. My ‘mother’ scoby has also had a baby 🍾so I’ll be able to make multiple batches soon (I know, I know, it’s all VERY weird if you’re new to all this!) Just look at the difference in colour between the drinks: to the left has been fermenting for around 10days, the right for about 10minutes! Kombucha if you haven’t tried it has a sweetish sourish fruity vinegar taste. I really like it and my kids think my batch tastes like “apple juice”. #kombucha #kombuchabrewing #kombuchalove #scoby #fermenteddrinks #fermentedfoods #bristolfoodie #guthealing #ibs #gutfriendly #microbiome #healthygut #inflammation #foodasmedicine #nutritionaltherapy #guthealth #probiotics #probiotic #gingerandpicklesnutrition

Making kombucha 👊 So excited about this - trying to broaden my own nutritional horizons so hopefully one day I can advise others on making some delicious and health promoting kombucha. It’s properly trendy, and certainly is the ‘in’ drink at the moment but many people don’t really understand what or why they should be drinking Kombucha. Our local health food shop even has it on tap like a brewery! But it’s expensive if you want to drink it regularly (like we do) and sometimes the flavours are limited, so I’ve challenged myself into learning all about brewing the ‘booch so I can teach others how to also. If you’re Bristol based and interested in learning about this sort of thing and it’s benefits do drop me a ✍🏻 Oh and if you’re new to all this - the large gooey thing I’m handling is called a scoby (as in Sco-Bee not Scooby Doo!) And this bacterial goodness is how the magic of kombucha happens 👐#kombucha #kombuchabrewing #fermentation #guthealth #guthealthy #fermentedfoods #fermenteddrinks #bristolfoodie #probiotics #kombuchalove #plantbased #scoby #gingerandpicklesnutrition

Vegan snacks

Snacks 😋 I feel a bit fraudy passing this off as #vegan food. My better half made me this scrumptious red onion spicy guacamole as a treat and it was amazing. I’ve just completed veganuary but planning on keeping up some of the habits I’ve learnt (like cutting down a lot of the dairy I was inadvertently eating a lot of). Who doesn’t love a bit of guac - and it’s 100% vegan! My point is though just because something is labelled as ‘vegan’ doesn’t necessarily mean it’s different or missing something or indeed healthier for you. So beware too much ‘vegan’ labelling hype and think about what ingredients would go into a dish anyway. If you’re having someone who is vegan over, don’t panic too much there is so much you CAN cook for them don’t focus on the few ingredients that they don’t want to eat 🥳#veganuary #whataveganeats #plantbased #ukvegans #veganfood #plantbased #eathealthybehealthy #guacamole #avocadolover #happyhealthylife #healthycooking #nourishing #nutrientrich #eatgoodfeelgood #wholefoods #foodlove #sutainableliving #plantbased #plantbaseddiet #fuelyourbody #beautifulfood #plantbasedfood #bristolfood #justeatrealfood #wholefoods #gingerandpicklesnutrition
