Spring foraging at its best. These gorgeous leaves can be found in most woodlands (and a lot of cemeteries) You’ll know you’re nearby as it smells pretty strongly (of garlic - obvs) Blend with some parmesan and chopped hazelnuts and it makes a cracking pesto enjoyed by all the family. . Also if you have a weird love of the white stuff like me (err mayonnaise that is) - add it to homemade or shop bought mayonnaise. It makes the most delicious aioli. . Any form of garlic is great for me at this time of year as my allergies kick in big time. Garlic is a natural form of quercetin (which is a great natural anti-histamine) and is a wonderful anti-inflammatory food. And it keeps the vamps away - bonus. 😱😱😱#loveyourfood #nomnomnom #healthybody #antiinflammatory#foodasmedicine #garlic #hayfever #pesto #nutritionaltips #bristol #foraging #foragingforfood #wellbeing #plantbased #gingerandpicklesnutrition One of the reasons I wanted to become a nutritional therapist was to carve a better, healthier future for my child. Two more children in and I feel even more passionately that if we don’t teach them what’s what early, we simply aren’t doing our jobs right.
. Junk food is not good for you. It is certainly not beneficial to a growing child. It shouldn’t be advertised to children. That’s why I’m using Instagram to support @jamieoliver in his #adenough campaign, petitioning the government to restrict junk food adverts directed at children before 9pm. And let’s not forget peeps it’s not just on TV - it’s marketed everywhere we go anyway for those little 👀! The only way to stop our children seeing these adverts is to literally cover their eyes. We need proper legislation to protect our children and our future... (And yes I did stupidly wait till bedtime to take these pictures #parentingfail) . #jamieoliver #supportthefuture#thefutureisbright #youarewhatyoueat#foodasmedicine #notpoison#willgetoffmysoapboxnow #kidsnutrition#childrensnutrition #healthybristol#healthyuk #gingerandpicklesnutrition VEG BOX
. Veg boxes are pretty special: amazingly convenient, excellent value and quite often #organic or if not #locallysourced. They encourage people to eat #seasonally and also to try new fruit and vegetables. I definitely wouldn’t normally buy broad beans as standard from a supermarket but we love them when they arrive! We get ours from @riverford or @abelandcole but I’ve also heard of some great new companies sourcing veg rejected for being a bit imperfect looking @oddboxldn and @wonkyvegboxes . Here in Bristol Barley Wood Walled Garden and Leigh Court Farm are two great looking options. Anyone else got recommendations? 👇👇👇 . #eatlocal #eatseasonal #fruitstagram#vegstagram #wholefooddiet #plantbased#broadbeans #plantbasednutrition#youarewhatyoueat #nutritiontips #bristol#nutritionist #gingerandpicklesnutrition BLOOD ORANGES 🍊🍊🍊 .
In the UK we get most of our blood oranges from Italy. One of the last truly #seasonal fruits these bad boys are in season from Dec-March, though some species are available until May, and are completely #DELICIOUS! The name comes from the flesh which has the richest ruby red colour. The pigment comes from a natural chemical called anthocyanin which also gives other brightly fruit and veg their colours and is anti-inflammatory and anti-carcinogenic . If you’re lucky these oranges are the sweetest juiciest most incredible tasting fruit and bloody good for you too. Who needs left over Easter eggs? Best eaten in the sunshine if you’re lucky enough to be somewhere hot, otherwise just close your eyes and ENJOY! 😋😋😋 . #mondaymotivation #ditchthechocolate#bloodoranges #loveyourfood#nomnomnom #healthybody#antiinflammatory #fruit #instafruit#anticancer #foodasmedicine#youarewhatyoueat #eatwell#eathealthybehappy #refinedsugarfree#healthyfamily #gingerandpicklesnutrition |
