I totally love this picture (sorry credit unknown!) showing just how wonderful hemp is. 💚💚💚
Did you know hemp seeds contain all 9 essential amino acids? Amino acids = the building blocks of protein, there are 21 common amino acids but 9 we need to consume in our diet as our bodies cannot make them. So if you’re worried about not getting enough protein, or perhaps for your children, try adding a little hemp seeds into your diet - easily sprinkled on foods or even on porridge in the morning and are as pleasant tasting as sesame seeds. Also hemp seed oil is full of lovely fatty acids and is considered to be one of the ‘healthiest’ oils available due to its omega 6:3 ratio (though best not to cook with it). It has a lovely nutty taste, as well as being rich in minerals such as zinc, iron, calcium and magnesium. AND before I get asked hemp oil is different from CBD oil - they are extracted from different parts of the hemp plant and have different actions in our bodies. And here’s where another layer of confusion lies - although both are from the Cannabis plant, marijuana and hemp are two different species of the same plant. Hemp contains a lot more CBD (Cannabidiol - which has therapeutic properties) but only a fraction of THC (tetrahydrocannabidiol - try saying that quickly!) which causes the high we associate with marijuana. #hemp #hemplove #tuesdaytips #fattyacids #aminoacids #cbd #cbdwellness #hempcommunity #hempoil #nutritionaltherapy #sustainability #sustainablefood #foodasmedicine #wellness #holistichealth #naturalremedy #gingerandpicklesnutrition
